Invitation to Membership

Dear Colleagues,

The Georgia Obstetrical & Gynecological Society (GOGS) INVITES YOU TO BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER NOW. In 2005, with our strong membership, we were able to achieve a major victory in the passage of Tort Reform Legislation. Every year since 2005, we have successfully protected Tort Reform from the inevitable legislative challenges. For the past four years, we have worked to preserve the OB/Gyn’s right to bill for Pap smears. Moving forward in 2009, we will continue our efforts to protect Tort Reform and preserve billing rights. The Society participates in a coalition with others to advocate for adequate Medicaid funding and improved reimbursement from the CMOs. Your support is imperative to the Society’s ability to continue monitoring and positively impacting women’s healthcare legislation.

The Society provides many other services for physicians, including continued medical education, the improvement of maternal-infant health care programs, newsletters, faxes of key information and two CPT workshops for physicians and staff. The Society is the voice and the advocate for OB/Gyns and quality women’s health in Georgia.

The GOGS maintains a close liaison with The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). The GOGS officers serve as the administrative arm of the Georgia Section of ACOG. Section officers serve on the Board of Directors of the Society and play an important role in the Society’s decision making.

As Membership Chair, I encourage you to review and complete the GOGS application and become a member of the Society. We hope to see you at the New Lodge at Callaway Gardens this August.

Sincerely,

Bonita Dozier, MD
Membership Chair
